Ticketmaster Goes Social

I was in 6th grade when I went to my first concert with a couple friends, chaperoned by one of their dads.  I remember being amazed by the noise, the excitement and the fact that I could be in the same room (granted, a big room) with Gavin Rossdale.  What I failed to notice was [...]

Absolutely No Reservations

Tony Bourdain winds up Season 7 of No Reservations tonight in Cajun Country and New Orleans. It’s been a great season, possibly the best since the first year or two, so I look forward to seeing where he goes, who he meets, and what the locals are eating. Hopefully there will a grandmother or two [...]

The Craziest One.

Steve Jobs has always been more than a guy who develops great devices. To me, he personifies, once and for all, the value of creativity in the business world. And for that, as much as the obvious concern about his health, is the reason I was saddened by the news his resignation. “Here’s to the [...]

Big Ideas Aren’t Always The Point.

A recent article in the NYT titled The Elusive Big Idea laments for a long-passed Age of Ideas. Writer Neal Gabler knows how to rub salt into our collective iPads: he believes that in our digital age, information itself has become the finish line, not the starting point; the development of big ideas has taken [...]

A Southerner’s Take: Shoeshines Are Good for the Soul

This morning, I got my shoes shined for the first time ever.  In celebration, I did what every good southern boy would do…I called my mamma.  She didn’t answer, but I’m pretty sure I left her a jumbled mess of a message about how awesome it was and how my shoes looked better than they [...]

It’s a Small World, Afterall

The concept of “six degrees of separation” is hardly a new one. But in case you’ve been living under a rock, I will say it’s an experiment from the 60’s that has turned into a sociological phenomenon, a movie and even a game involving Kevin Bacon. OK, great, we’re all on the same page now! [...]

Taylor’s NY Company Picnic in Photos

Last week, Taylor’s New York office had its company picnic (a huge shout-out to Maeve Hagen for leading the organization of it!) at the NYIT de Seversky Mansion. Fun fact about the location: it was the setting for the 1991 movie Arthur. Some intense games of bean bag toss, ladder golf, soccer and volleyball happened on the lawn — an eye-opening experience of how athletic our staff really is! As it was a family event, there was also a puppet show, face painting and a cotton candy machine for the kids (of course, some adult staffers were spotted enjoying these activities, too!) Check out the pics after the jump.

Chima’s Charlotte: A Meathead Review

I have absolutely nothing against vegetarians or vegans.  I really don’t.  I do, however, fundamentally disagree with and fail to understand their decision to abstain from one of the top three pleasures in life (Joined by yellow cake batter and “Boy Meets World” reruns. Duh.).  So, when my boss invited me to grab dinner at, [...]
